Frequently Asked Questions

Is it compulsory for investors to use the new UPI handle only?

No, it is not compulsory. Investors can continue to use their preferred mode of payment such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, or Cheques. However, if investors choose to make payment through UPI, then they must use the new UPI IDs allotted to registered intermediaries.

What should investors check while making payment using the new UPI IDs/ QR Code?

Investors should carefully verify the following before making payment:

The UPI ID must display the name of the intermediary, followed by a short category code like “mf” (for Mutual Funds) before the “@” symbol.

On the right side of the “@”, the new and exclusive handle “@valid” will be shown, followed by the bank name.

On the UPI confirmation screen, the app will display a white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle.

The QR code generated will also carry the same white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle and display the UPI ID just below the QR code.

Do investors need to obtain a new UPI handle for transactions?

No. The new UPI IDs are only for intermediaries. Investors can continue using their existing UPI IDs for transactions.

What should investors do if their transaction/ payment fails with the new UPI ID?

Payments made through the secure validated UPI IDs of intermediaries will follow the same banking process as earlier. In case of any failure or technical issue, investors are requested to approach their respective bank for support.

What is the UPI transaction limit?

The transaction limit is ₹5 lakh per transaction and the daily cumulative limit is ₹10 lakh.
